Description

The most beautiful bike ride in the Region of Valencia! Start at more than 800m above sea level and almost automatically roll back to sea level, right through Sierra de Espadán, a protected nature reserve. You cycle from one surprise to the next, past winding cork oaks and juicy oranges, along gorges and ravines, via quiet roads to dreamy villages. The Espadán is rugged and versatile, a spectacular landscape that is constantly changing.

There are a number of historic villages, such as the white town of Aín, with its medieval streets and Onda, famous for its ceramics museum and the 'castle with 300 towers'.

In the summer you can swim in (public) swimming pools close to the route.

At the start you will receive a short explanation (in Dutch) about the area. Then you cycle down at your own pace. Our GPS will show you the way. If you choose the easiest route, you will almost automatically roll to the end point. If you choose the sporty route, you will have to climb a bit here and there. Each time with a beautiful descent as a reward.

Along the way you will find the necessary picnic areas and a number of villages to stop for a drink or to eat. On request, we will set up a picnic table exclusively for you at a special spot along the route.

You can also book a fully organized multi-day tour through this area. We make these to measure, depending on your condition.

Itinerary

The distance and starting point of this route are variable.

The easiest route is almost exclusively downhill and/or over almost flat terrain.

This is about 40 km long and goes via the castle Onda and orange plantations to the endpoint, station Nules.

If you want a more sporty tour, we will extend your route to 50 or 60 km and you will occasionally have to climb.

(With a nice descent as a reward)

If you cycle with young children, we choose a route of 15-20 km with little difference in height, over roads with hardly any traffic. In that case, the endpoint is the magnificent 'castle with 300 towers', in Onda. You can visit the castle.

The meeting point before the tour is Nules train station.

You can easily get here by train, there is a train from Valencia or Castellón almost every half hour.

You can also come to Nules in your own car. Then we will pick you up there and take you to the starting point in the mountains.
